CNC Turning Process

(1) Select and determine the parts for CNC machining by analyzing their adaptability.

(2) Analyze the process of nc machining of parts based on the characteristics of machining surface and the function of nc equipment.

(3) Process design of CNC machining.

(4) Perform mathematical processing and calculation of part graphics according to programming requirements.

(5) Compile processing program list (the source program is the automatic programming, and the purpose program -- processing program is automatically generated by the computer).

(6) Inspection and modification of processing procedures.

(7) Trial processing of the first piece to further modify the processing procedures and deal with on-site problems.

(8) Compile technical documents of nc machining, such as nc machining process card, program description card and cutter routing road map, etc.

The Matters Need Attention When CNC Turning

The technic for CNC lathe is similar with general lathe. But for CNC lathe machining it's one time clamping, finish all machining process continuously and automatically. There are several matters need to pay attention when machining.

1. Reasonable choice for cutting parameters: The material of workpiece, cutting toolings and cutting conditions are three important elements for high efficiency metal turning process. These elements decide the machining time, the toolings' life and component's quality. Economic and efficiency machining process must have chosen reasonable cutting conditions. Three important elements for cutting condition are: cutting rate, advancing speed and the depth of cutting. Along with the increase of cutting rate, the temperature of tooling will become higher, it will lead to mechanical, chemical and high temperature abrasion. Improving 20% of cutting rate, the tooling's life will reduce 1/2. The advancing speed and depth of cutting will also effect the tooling's life. So we should consider these elements when choosing the cutting rate: the workpiece's material, hardness, cutting conditions, advancing speed, depth of cutting, etc.

2. When rough machining, you should choose tooling with high strength and good durability to meet the requirement of high turning depth and high advancing speed. To meet the requirement of precision, we should choose high precision toolings when rough machining. Choosing folder plate knife to reduce the time for changing knife.

3. Reasonable choice of clamp: choosing universal clamp than special clamp.

4. Establish the process course: Ensure to reach the requirements of precision and surface roughness. The process course should be as short as possible to reduce the idle stroke of toolings.

5. If there is too many allowance of workpiece, especially like some foundry and casting parts, we always use general lathe to machining these allowance.
